He unsuccessfully ran for a Tennessee U.S. House seat in 1980, against Al Gore. He was a political science professor at the University of Tennessee. He was a security analyst at the National Security Agency. He has written lyrics for several published songs with Timothy J. Ripley and Mark Ford.
